Every Final Destination Movie Ranked

1. Final Destination: Bloodlines

Final Destination 5
Warner Bros.

After a fourteen-year-wait, it's wonderful to say that Final Destination: Bloodlines is really bloody great. It just wouldn't feel right to put anything else at number one.

Although it shakes up the formula, Bloodlines gives fans what they came for: terrifyingly visceral, paranoia-inducing death scenes, Hitchcockian suspense, a phenomenal opening disaster, a wicked sense of humour, a treasure trove of easter eggs for repeat viewers to unpack and one final cameo from the late, great Tony Todd, whose appearance in this one is unexpectedly moving. Furthermore, the direction from Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein is legitimately outstanding - where have these guys been hiding?!

Bloodlines gives the people what they want, but what really makes it special is that it goes beyond that. As delightful as the past Final Destination movies mostly were, they all had their artistic flaws such as awkward exposition and hit-or-miss acting. There's absolutely none of that in Bloodlines. The entire cast do a really good job, the dialogue is never clunky and this has a group of characters that you'll really care about. You'll want at least a couple of them to survive, although unfortunately that's not the case.

Sadly, this does drop the ball at the very end with yet another fake-out, everyone-dies ending that felt a little cruel, but other than that annoyance? Bravo!

If the next one's anything like this, Final Destination's future is, unlike that of its luckless characters, filled with promise.
