Every Fox Movie That Has Bombed Under Disney (And How Much They Lost)

4. Ad Astra ($30+ Million Loss)

Ad Astra Brad Pitt
Disney

Production Budget: $80 million | Worldwide Gross: $124 million

Despite the movie being well-received by critics, Brad Pitt's stunning sci-fi adventure Ad Astra could not translate that goodwill into box-office success.

Debuting to a decent $19 million on its domestic opening weekend, the movie subsequently lacked any sort of forward momentum, and failed to turn a profit when all was said and done.

Shortly after it opened, Deadline reported that the movie was on track to lose around $30 million - but that was if it reached $150 million worldwide. In reality, it didn't even crack $130 million, capping out at a disappointing $124 million when everything had been totted up.

As a result, that $30 million loss is likely a bit bigger. We're not sure how much bigger, but either way, it's not exactly good news for Disney and Fox, who were surely expecting better from this one considering how well space movies have done over the last couple of years (Interstellar, The Martian, Gravity).
