Every Francis Ford Coppola Movie Ranked Worst To Best
19. Twixt (2011)
Coppola's most recent film to date isn't quite as bad as its critics would have you believe, but there's no doubt is fails to compare to the director's most accomplished masterstrokes.
Twixt is an experimental horror film that follows a down-and-out writer (Val Kilmer) as he is thrust into a small-town murder mystery and confronted by a mysterious ghost (Elle Fanning) in his dreams.
The film features a saving grace in Elle Fanning's typically dependable performance, as well as its acute references to horror icons like Edgar Allan Poe, but is ultimately let down by its lack of scares, Kilmer's sheepish portrayal of a man caught between two worlds, and the occasionally off-putting visual effects. Again, a great film lurks in there somewhere, but Coppola misses the mark.
