Every George A Romero Movie Ranked Worst To Best

14. Season Of The Witch

Not to be confused with the Nicolas Cage film of the same name, Season Of The Witch was Romero’s third film and his return to the macabre after the failure of There’s Always Vanilla the previous year. You can tell it’s a movie from the guy who made Night Of The Living Dead because it has the same low budget feel that lends the film an appropriately creepy atmosphere.

Also known as Jack’s Wife and Hungry Wives, this story of a housewife mixed up in witchcraft took its release title from the Donovan song of the same name, which features prominently in the film. The editing and photography work in the film’s favor in pretty much the same way as they did in NOTLD, presenting the horror set pieces in a stark, no frills style that really does prove that less is more.

Though not as satisfying as Romero’s signature film, Season Of The Witch is still worth checking out.
