Every George A Romero Movie Ranked Worst To Best
13. Two Evil Eyes
One of Romero’s collaborations with Dario Argento, Two Evil Eyes consists of two short films based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Argento directs a modern day version of The Black Cat (with Harvey Keitel as “Roderick Usher”) while Romero kicks things off with his retelling of The Facts In The Case Of Mr Valdemar.
Disappointingly, both tales miss the sly wit of Creepshow and Argento was at the beginning of a career slide that ultimately resulted in him directing a cheap Dracula movie where the Count turns into a grasshopper (you read that right). It’s still fun, though, and how many horror movies can boast a cast that includes Kim Hunter, Martin Balsam, E.G. Marshall and Harvey Keitel?
Incidentally, keep your eyes out during Argento’s segment and you’ll see 17-year-old Julie Benz in her movie debut.
