Every Halloween Movie Ranked Worst To Best After Halloween Kills
2. Rob Zombie's Halloween II (2009)
This will, I know, be a controversially high ranking for many people, but what can I say? Rob Zombie's second stab at Michael Myers' story is one of his very best achievements, a relentlessly bloody, deeply strange slasher that takes big swings and makes them work on confidence alone.
With a deep focus on the connection between Laurie and Myers, and how much they truly mirror one another, Halloween II's patient storytelling, insane, miserable violence, and surreal imagery are impossible to shake.
After three decades, it's nothing but refreshing to see someone try something so fresh with Halloween's formula, and whether you appreciate its last act twist or not, it's hard not to be taken in by Zombie's intentions. (Yes, his dialogue still hurts, but there's less of it here than his 2007 effort.)
Halloween II is, all told, one of the most audacious horror sequels ever made, and it's about time we accepted it for the unique nightmare it is.
