Every Halloween Movie Ranked Worst To Best After Halloween Kills

Halloween Kills
Universal

The first and best chapter of David Gordon Green's rebooted trilogy acts as a direct follow-up to the original 1978 film, following an isolated and haunted Laurie Strode as she confronts her murderous brother once more.

Anchored by Curtis's finest performance as Strode (as well as her co-stars Judy Greer and Will Patton), this particular Halloween works devastatingly well as a deep examination of trauma and victimhood, but whilst reaching for tricky themes never loses its grip as a brutal, terrorising slasher flick.

Green and Danny McBride, more careful and aware of themselves than they will be going forward, agonise over every kill and twist. It's a stunning character study, perhaps more so than any other Halloween film before or since, and its action matches its drama every step of the way.

You can be forgiven for thinking this film didn't need to happen, but Green's vision should put all your worries to bed.
