5. Bellatrix Lestrange
Bellatrix is a much-needed source of terror and maniacal evil in the later films.
Helena Bonham Carter delivers one of her greatest performances to date with her deliciously cruel turn as Bellatrix. Her highlights are her vicious killing of Sirius Black, and everything she does in Malfoy Manor; her harrowing torture of Hermione is particularly gruelling.
She would be higher if it wasn't for her disappointing role in the last film. She is barely given anything to do. She idly stands around for most of it, and then has a disappointing ten second duel with Molly Weasley and explodes.
Despite her poor handling in the final film, she remains a violent and gleefully nasty addition to the story.
