Every James Bond Girl Ranked From Worst To Best

35. Solitaire - Live And Let Die

James Bond Girls Ranked

Solitaire (Jane Seymour), a psychic in the employ of main villain Kananga, often seems to be held up as one of the better Bond Girls in the older films... for some reason.

Watching Live and Let Die back now, Solitaire really isn't that good. It's not the fault of actress Jane Seymour, who's perfectly OK in the part, and Solitaire's striking outfits and mystic abilities do make her undeniably intriguing yet she's ultimately a disappointing waste of potential.

This will come as a shock to the people who wrote the older Bond films but any character - male or female - is so much better when they have agency and actually do something other than acting as eye-candy. Shocking, we know.

This is why Solitaire's doesn't work. She's so passive, so constantly frightened and so devoid of agency that it's really hard to get invested in her as a character.

The fact that she's involved in one of the franchise's most problematic moments doesn't help matters either. Using her tarot cards, Bond tricks her into thinking they're supposed to be together and sleeps with her, essentially committing rape by deception.

As it should go without saying, this is very uncomfortable to watch and casts a shadow over Bond and Solitaire's relationship throughout the rest of the film.
