Every James Bond Girl Ranked From Worst To Best

17. May Day - A View To A Kill

James Bond Girls Ranked
MGM/UA

May Day (Grace Jones), the girlfriend of main villain Max Zorin, is a henchwoman with superhuman strength and one of the bright spots in what is arguably one of the worst James Bond films.

She's a very striking villain with plenty of screen-presence and she does some great stuff in the first half of the film. Unfortunately, she does recede into the background a bit in the film's second half and therefore, it feels like she could've been more.

Additionally, her sex scene with Bond is a bit cringe-worthy (largely thanks to Moore's age at the time of filming) and Grace Jones' line readings are hit-or-miss. She does the action scenes and silent menace very well though, and the character gets a very good ending too.

Having been betrayed by Zorin (who left her to drown in a mine), May Day joins Bond's side and sacrifices herself to stop Zorin's evil plan. This switching of sides is pretty satisfying overall and a nice change from the way these femme fatale Bond villains usually end up.

Not an all-timer Bond Girl, then, but a good one for sure.
