29. Baron Samedi - Live And Let Die

Adolph Gettler James Bond
United Artists

Talk about a missed opportunity.

This bizarre henchman of Dr Kananga's is a voodoo priest on the island of San Monique and makes for a very creepy presence in the scenes he's in. Baron Samedi's (Geoffrey Holder) visual appearance is awesome too and he definitely had great potential, but unfortunately, he doesn't appear much or even do anything in particular, so the film completely wastes him.

Although Bond throws him into a coffin of snakes and apparently kills him during the finale, he reappears at the very end in a very bizarre manner - sitting on the front of the train Bond is on and laughing demonically. Make of that what you will.

Baron Samedi could've been a great henchman had the film given him the substantial role he deserved. Sadly, it wasn't to be.
