43. Adolph Gettler - Casino Royale

Adolph Gettler James Bond

After Le Chriffre, Casino Royale's main villain, died at the end of act two, a new evil figurehead was needed for the film's third act and Adolph Gettler (Richard Sammel) was the result.

A German Quantum agent who Vesper Lynd exchanges money with, Adolph Gettler (whose name is probably a Hitler reference) is introduced far, far too late in the film to have any sort of impact. His eyepatch sunglasses are cool and his death - a nail gun to the darkened glass - is entertainingly brutal (considering that it's a PG-13 film) but in general he's a non-entity of a character.

With hindsight, it would've been better to make Mr White the main villain of Casino Royale's third act (but still have him escaping from Venice so that Bond could capture him at the end).
