Every James Bond Movie Pre-Credits Scene Ranked Worst To Best

12. Octopussy - Bond Attacks A Military Base In Latin America

James Bond Goldeneye Opening
MGM

This opening, which mainly revolves around a plane chase (Bond flies a tiny plane that had been hidden in a horse-transport vehicle), is totally ridiculous but honestly? It's actually really fun as well.

It's a little goofy but not overly so and the humour largely lands, while the plane chase is very thrilling and well-directed. Most satisfyingly of all, unlike the rest of this disappointing Bond film this opening is ludicrous and light-hearted without becoming too silly to take seriously.

It's not an outstanding opening, but it is a very enjoyable one and sits comfortably in the upper-mid tier of Bond openings. It's also one of many interesting examples of some of the better Bond pre-credits scenes coming from some of the franchise's weaker movies.
