Every James Bond Movie Pre-Credits Scene Ranked Worst To Best
10. Casino Royale - Bond's First Two Kills
Casino Royale aimed to reinvent Bond for a post-9/11 world and this down-to-earth and brutal opening, which is in black and white, certainly made these intentions clear from the very beginning.
The pre-credits cross cuts between Bond's (Daniel Craig) first two kills - a corrupt MI6 agent (Malcolm Sinclair) in Prague and the agent's contact (Darwin Shaw) in a bathroom - and does a great job of establishing the hard-hitting, grounded nature of both this film and of Craig's Bond.
The bathroom fight is also one of the most brutal and violent scene in Bond history, so there's that too, and it wraps up with the best gun barrel of the series.
After the man in the bathroom has apparently been drowned, he suddenly gets up and aims at Bond, but Bond wheels around and shoots him; this is shown as the gun barrel scene. This is the only time the gun barrel has been incorporated into the narrative like this, but it worked awfully well.
This is a very hard-hitting and effective opening scene, but not as thrilling as the ones ranked above it.
