Every James Bond Movie Pre-Credits Scene Ranked Worst To Best
5. Goldfinger - Bond Destroys A Drugs Laboratory
The best of the pre-credits scenes which have nothing to do with the rest of the movie, Goldfinger's pre-credits scene is basically a mini Bond film. And it's absolutely awesome (if a little goofy).
It's an infectiously entertaining and fun opening, but what makes it particularly interesting is that it's basically the first establishment of the James Bond formula.
While Dr No and From Russia with Love were more down-to-earth Cold War thrillers Goldfinger established most of the series' tropes and this opening has pretty much all of that.
It's got gadgets, bad-ass action, Sean Connery being suave, a glamorous drinking establishment, a mixture of brutality and escapism, a Bond Girl and a terrific climactic fight scene which ends with one of Bond's best kills, followed by one of his best one-liners.
He throws a hitman and an electric lamp into a bath and electrocutes him before, saying "Shocking. Positively shocking."
It's absolutely classic stuff that packs everything you love about Bond into five minutes and the best bit? It's got to be that moment where Bond removes his wetsuit to reveal a perfectly dry and pressed white tuxedo underneath. It doesn't get much cooler than that.
