Every James Bond Movie Ranked Worst To Best

11. Dr. No (1962)

Spectre Daniel Craig
MGM

What's the first thing you picture when you recall James Bond's cinematic debut?

Is it Sean Connery's suave introduction, with the priceless tux, loose cigarette, and the first utterance of the timeless "Bond. James Bond" line? Or is it Ursula Andress emerging from the sea? What about the titular villain, and how he set the template for every Bond foe to come?

Whatever it is that comes to mind, the general opinion is that Dr. No is an all-timer, capturing the smooth, brutal, arrogant complexity of 007 with both cheeky humour and violent clashes, and setting the blueprint for every Bond mission that would soon follow.

Of course, some aspects of the film haven't aged well (the sexism is there from the get-go), but the power of Connery's commanding performance and the spy's debut attempt to take down a threat far bigger than himself makes Dr. No a franchise high-point with iconography to spare.
