Every James Bond Villain Ranked Worst To Best

14. Mr Big - Live And Let Die

Renard James Bond
United Artists

On paper, Dr Kananga/Mr Big is a complete bore. His plan (to monopolize the United States heroin market) is quite interesting and refreshingly realistic, but he is largely unsuccessful as the film's antagonist.

He's very forgettable as a character, his relationship with main Bond Girl Solitaire is incredibly creepy (and not in a good way) and the twist that Mr Big, a Harlem gangster, is Kananga in disguise is pointless as hell.

Still, it's not all doom and gloom. Yaphet Kotto is always nice to see on-screen and he gives a decent performance that makes the character better than he might've been, while that hysterical death scene is the stuff of legend.

Bond forces an air-compressed bullet into his mouth and Kananga literally inflates, floats to the ceiling and bursts like a balloon. "Well, he always did have an inflated opinion of himself" remarks Bond. That moment is comedy gold.
