Every James Bond Villain Ranked Worst To Best
29. Blofeld (Charles Gray) - Diamonds Are Forever
Say hello to the worst ever incarnation of Ernst Stavro Blofeld. In Diamonds are Forever, he's using a weaponized satellite, made from smuggled diamonds, to carry out his evil schemes and he also has two doubles disguised as him (they're both killed by Bond).
While the previous incarnations of Blofeld were sinister, evil and almost alien figures, this version is a plain, staggeringly dull guy who speaks in a flat monotone and couldn't be less threatening if he'd tried. The terrible screenplay was already bad enough (the murder of Bond's wife in the previous film isn't even mentioned once), but Charles Gray's terrible performance made this Blofeld even worse.
He's ultimately defeated by Bond swinging his submarine (which he's about to use to escape from his oil rig base) into the rig and causing it to explode in a very silly manner. Bloody awful in every way.
As for that scene where he dresses up in a drag disguise in order to sneak out of the casino he's hiding in... you know what, let's not even think about that.
All in all, this is the closest a lead Bond villain has come to being worse than Gustav Graves.
