Every James Bond Villain Ranked Worst To Best
26. Blofeld - For Your Eyes Only
For Your Eyes Only is a very strong and underrated Bond film, but the pre-title sequence is a complete disaster and the way it concluded Blofeld's story was just appalling.
The opening features a man (Played by John Hollis and voiced by Robert Rietti) who is very clearly Blofeld but is not named as such due to rights issues that prevented Eon from using the character. He tries to kill Bond using a remote-control helicopter, which of course fails, and then Bond comically offs him by dropping him and his wheelchair down a smokestack.
Although Robert Rietti's voice performance as Blofeld was solid, in every other way all of this was just wrong. The entire scene felt thoroughly disrespectful to Bond's most iconic nemesis, since Blofeld was brought back in such a flippant way and was also turned into a complete joke. His idiotic plan (which was so easy for Bond to escape) and silly demise made Blofeld look very stupid indeed.
It's understandable that Eon wanted to conclude Blofeld's story, since he hadn't been able to return properly due to the rights disputes, but this was the worst way to do it. If he was being brought back he should've been the main villain, not a pre-credits kill, and just leaving the character alone would've been better than this.
