Every Joker Movie Performance EVER Ranked From Worst To Best
5. Zach Galifianakis (The Lego Batman Movie)
In a textbook case of brilliant casting that no fan had ever thought of, Zach Galifianakis was drafted in to voice The Joker in 2017's The Lego Batman Movie, the results of which were unexpectedly creative and, more expectedly, hilarious.
This version of The Joker proves intensely self-aware about his own yin-and-yang relationship with Batman (Will Arnett), with the gay subtext cranked up to astonishing levels for a studio animation aimed squarely at children.
The design of the character is basically Cesar Romero dipped in acid and slapped on plastic, while Galifianakis nails the voice, no matter the inherently comedic nature of the portrayal.
In fact, his performance is strong enough that, in another world, one could've imagined him taking the Joaquin Phoenix role in his pal Todd Phillips' Joker. As it stands, we'll have to make do with Galifianakis playing a failed clown in FX's show Baskets - brilliantly, by the way.
Despite the limitations of a voice-only performance, Galifianakis gives it his all and in turn delivers a truly memorable riff on the iconic villain.
