Every Kevin Smith Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
13. Cop Out (2010)
It takes some doing to make Bruce Willis look as disinterested as he did in Cop Out. The former Die Hard star has made a living lately cashing in paychecks (with all-too-rare punctuations of brilliance) and Cop Out might well be his peak phone-in moment. But then, to Smith's credit, he did acknowledge that Willis was a nightmare to work with and you can only play the cards you're dealt.
The problems are manifold and not limited to Willis however: the script - which wasn't Smith's - was a horror show, removing all effective comedy from what is designed to be a spoof and ladling on the cliche. There's not a single memorable gag, the performances are either bored (Willis) or impossibly weighted down by garbage (Tracy Morgan).
And while Smith said that "writing a nasty review for Cop Out is akin to bullying a retarded kid. All you’ve done is make fun of something that wasn't doing you any harm and wanted only to give some cats some fun laughs," he doesn't have a case.
