Every Leonardo DiCaprio Movie Ranked Worst To Best

8. Titanic (1996)

Leonardo DiCaprio Shutter Island
20th Century Studios

Barely a year after the success of Romeo + Juliet, DiCaprio cemented himself as a star thanks to James Cameron's epic romantic tragedy Titanic, which is as much about the ocean liner's sinking as it is about the doomed romance at its centre.

As poor painter Jack Dawson, DiCaprio is on exceptional form, working wonders off co-star Kate Winslet to create a love affair that feels at once authentic and reckless. Whilst Winslet is stiff, lost, and uncertain, DiCaprio bursts into every scene with an energetic lust for life that makes his demise all the more painfully inevitable.

Grand and gorgeous, Cameron's haunting ode to the world's most famous ship still shines with humanity thanks to its awe-inspiring scale and characters, and DiCaprio's optimism and innocence sells every ounce of its hope and eventual heartbreak.
