Every Leonardo DiCaprio Movie Ranked Worst To Best
20. Marvin's Room (1996)
As is often the case with his films - even this early in his career - DiCaprio is the glue holding Marvin's Room together. Cast as the son of a grieving Meryl Streep, his rebellious performance forms the emotional core of the family drama around him.
Narratively speaking, Marvin's Room never reaches the high bar set by its cast, which also includes Diane Keaton and Robert De Niro, and sags under the weight of its clichéd drama and obvious ending. Despite this, DiCaprio soars with what he's given, finding the perfect role to blend his boyish charm with a mature vulnerability.
Though released the same year as the more iconic and popular Romeo + Juliet, Marvin's Room is more indicative of what DiCaprio's career has become. It's not his best, but it's a striking template for the type of roles he would go on to master.
