6. Lois And Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman
One of the beautiful things about Superman is that his story can really be morphed to shape whatever the creator’s vision is. We have seen him in slapstick comedy (not very effectively) and we have seen him in a Science Fiction/ action setting.
However, Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman really took the focus away from the Man of Steel and instead focused on Clark Kent. Airing in 1993, the series starred Dean Cain as Clark/Superman and Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane. First off, this pairing was wonderful. Both actors played off each other really well and had great chemistry with not only each other, but the rest of the cast.
Cain himself wasn’t a terrible Superman either. Despite the low budget restrictions of the TV show, Superman’s arsenal of powers was showcased effectively. Cain was a much stronger Clark than he was Superman however, offering a new, more confident side to the classic bumbling reporter.
Despite a few VERY soap opera storylines, the show actually maintained quite a humorous yet semi-serious tone. Striking the balance between goofy and slapstick very well. Overall the show is worth a binge watch if you’re looking to explore a different side of Superman.
