Every Live-Action Superman Movie & TV Show Ranked
5. Arrowverse Superman
Debuting as part of the CW’s Supergirl, Superman actually
takes the backseat in the Arrowverse to allow his cousin to shine. However,
while he may not be the focal point of the show, Superman does show various new
elements in this series.
Tyler Hoechlin does a good job as Superman; he gets across the persona necessary for both Clark and Superman (even though the costume leaves a lot to be desired!). His powers are also showcased well, with the flying effects being particularly impressive for a TV budget.
What’s nice about this version of Superman is that we get to see him in very bizarre comic book story lines. For example, the Else World’s crossover showed us the dark black suited Superman and really let Hoechlin show the range that he has when playing this character. His dynamic with Kara is also very sweet and shows the bond that these two beings have with one another.
The main downside with this version of Superman is simply that we haven’t seen enough of him. But with a solo series in the pipeline, it seems we’re destined for more adventures with the Arrowverse Superman.
