Every Live-Action Superman Movie & TV Show Ranked
9. The Adventures Of Superman
Transitioning from the big screen to the small screen.
George Reeves starred in The Adventures of Superman. This was much more of a straightforward
television show than the 1940s Superman Serials. There were occasional 2-part
episodes, but most were one and done.
Reeves and the rest of the cast are very good, but they don’t stand out as iconic in their roles, particularly when compared with some of the other performances that have graced the franchise. It was also very rare for Superman to fight anyone in the show who was “super” themselves. A lot of the plots revolved around bank robbers and gangsters, more so than actual comic book villains.
For its time, The Adventures of Superman stands out as a great piece of television, however when you look at it through a modern lens, it doesn’t hold up as well as some of the other shows of the time, most notably being the 1960s Batman.
