Every Major MCU Hero Death Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Yondu
Loki isn’t the only one in the MCU who started as a villain before heroically making the ultimate sacrifice. While the God of Mischief gave his life to save his brother’s, Yondu Udonta did so to save Peter Quill, the man he thought of as his son.
Yondu had always had a complicated relationship with doing the right thing in the MCU, as he only ever helped save Xandar for his own personal gains, but when he faced a mutiny and the Guardians had to defend the galaxy against Ego, he only ever had the well-being of Quill in his mind.
After the living planet imploded, Yondu had only one space suit and one aero-rig to get both himself and Peter to safety, and he heroically made the decision to save his boy. They had had a complicated relationship over the years, but it had never been more clear just how much he loved the man they called Star-Lord.
Earlier in the movie, Stakar Ogord had told Yondu that, because he broke their codes by trafficking Ego’s kids, he would never have a real Ravager funeral. However, when Rocket got in touch with them and told them of his sacrifice, they showed up and gave him one of the greatest send offs of any MCU character so far.
