Every Major MCU Hero Death Ranked From Worst To Best

Fresh on the heels of saving the people of Asgard from Hela and Surtur, those aboard the Statesman were faced with an even bigger threat in the shape of Thanos and his Black Order. The population of Thor's home were slaughtered, but Heimdall managed to hang on for a few more vital minutes.

Thanos proved what a terrifying physical threat he was by annihilating the Hulk without the use of any Infinity Stones or special powers, while Heimdall, not content with allowing the Mad Titan to continue with such ease, sent the unconscious Banner to the Sanctum Sanctorum on Earth.

This allowed the heroes of Earth to prepare for the coming invasion, and without this, Thanos may well have steamrolled the Avengers on his way to completing the Infinity Gauntlet. Heimdall however, earned himself a swift death with this move.

He possibly doesn’t get the recognition he deserves for his part in the Infinity War, with some questioning why he would send Hulk to Earth instead of Thor, but he sacrificed himself to send word to Doctor Strange of Thanos. There aren’t many more heroic deaths than that.
