Every Major MCU Villain Ranked Worst To Best
19. Darren Cross/Yellowjacket – Ant-Man
For quite a bit of the first two MCU Phases, Marvel film-makers followed the model of what had worked for Iron Man: the villain would just be a flipped version of the hero. It was a solid idea, but it didn’t always work with quite so much success.
That’s basically what Darren Cross is: he’s the spiritual son Hank Pym never wanted whlle Scott Lang was everything he wanted in a protegee. That made him twisted and emotionally unhinged and focused his mission on getting back at Pym and proving himself worthy, which is an interesting thing lots of MCU movies have explored.
But he was just a bit dull as a villain and he’s not one that will stick out in memory, even though he’s part of one of the most imaginative action scenes of the whole franchise. Then again, when Thomas the Tank Engine outshines you, something is up.
