27. Whiplash – Iron Man 2

Mickey Rourke’s stories about being Whiplash - and what he wanted to do with the character - are a lot more interesting than the character himself, which says everything.

On paper, he wasn’t a bad villain at all - he had motive, he was smart, he looked pretty cool - but then according to Rourke, the studio cut out all of the depth to his performance and we were left with a monstrosity with a silly accent and a pet parrot.

The film’s not great, even when it has its moments, but not having as big a threat as Obadiah Stane from the previous movie really hurt it. Blame Whiplash for that.
