25. Kaecilius – Doctor Strange

When Mads Mikkelsen was cast as the villain in Doctor Strange, it looked like great business, because even if the material sucked, we’d be guaranteed a strong performance. He’s an actual legend, after all.

But then Kaecilius ends up being a bit too one-dimensional and not really getting all that much to do other than fetching and carrying for his boss Dormammu. He has a part to play in really great action sequences, but the effects shine more than him and he’s weirdly lacking in any sort of real depth.

He’s just a bit too much like a henchmen with a good look and an actor who deserved more behind him. And splitting the story between him and Dormammu hurt them both.
