Every Martin Scorsese Movie Ranked Worst To Best
22. Who's That Knocking At My Door? (1967)
Martin Scorsese's debut feature film, Who's That Knocking On My Door?, was made when the director was just 24, a feat that seems improbable given the film's thematic complexity and confident camerawork.
Starring Harvey Keitel as a man blindsided by his girlfriend's greatest secret, the film has everything Scorsese would tackle down the line, including visceral explorations of Catholic guilt, masculinity, lust and religious turmoil.
It's clear, as with the vast majority of directorial debuts, that Scorsese is still testing the waters, finding and perfecting his own voice, but Who's That Knocking At My Door? is so creatively assured and viscerally emotional that its brief imperfections are easy to overlook.
