The future of the X-Men in the MCU is very closely tied to the Fantastic Four's mooted debut in the shared universe and it's all just been made more likely with the ratification of Fox and Disney's deal.

There's also been some hints that the mutant element of the MCU could be dealt with in The Eternals movie initially.

Will It Happen?

Disney bought Fox's film rights for a reason and the potential to turn the lucrative but occasionally mishandled X-Men franchise into a financial behemoth that could sit alongside the MCU was a big selling factor.

Imagine how much of a reaction there'd be if Marvel announced an Avengers Versus X-Men project... The Internet would combust. That's why there's always going to be more X-Men movies, even if Fox mess up the final releases that are under their control.
