Release Date: May 4, 2018 & May 3, 2019 Everything is leading to this. While Marvel has plans for years beyond Infinity War, the ultimate showdown with Thanos will be the big payoff to what will be by the time of its release a decade of storytelling and character building. As we inch ever closer to it, questions are constantly being raised about the film and everything leading up to it over the next few years, from how much Thanos' role and his quest to collect the Infinity Stone will figure into the other Phase 3 films to establish him as a villain to be feared to whether or not other MCU teams like the Defenders, the Guardians, and even the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gang will all unite to aid the Avengers. Those involved with the film have promised a suitably epic event that will feature a staggering cast, but whether it can live up to the promise of bringing together the entirety of the MCU and paying off years of investment is something no one will know until the credits have finally rolled. With a number of star contracts set to end with the film, it also raises the stakes in terms of who will survive the ordeal. As the culmination of years of fan patience and expectations, Marvel has every opportunity to make the two-part story one for the ages, giving closure to characters we've come to love against the backdrop of universe-bending spectacle before a whole new, mysterious era begins with Phase 4. On that idea alone, its easily the project to be most excited for.
