Release Date: November 3, 2017 By the time the third film rolls around, it will have been over two years since fans last saw the God of Thunder returning to Asgard to investigate the sudden reemergence of the Infinity Stones and nearly four years since The Dark World left Loki on the throne of Asgard masquerading as Odin. Aside from dealing with the Loki thread and setting up the events of Infinity War even further, the very subtitle of Ragnarok has many comic fans' heads spinning about what it could mean for Thor, for his fellow Asgardians, and for the future of the MCU as a whole. On top of that, the Hulk is also going to be playing into the film, ensuring that the third film has a lot on its plate and a lot of ground to cover in carrying forward Thor's story and the overarching narrative of the universe he's a part of. Thor's two solo outings haven't quite taken advantage of just how crazy big they could get, and The Dark World was far from the step up in quality to Thor that, say, The Winter Soldier was to The First Avenger. With Guardians of the Galaxy's success showing people are ready for adventures away from Earth and the upcoming Doctor Strange set to really bring a new level of weird to the MCU, hopefully Ragnarok can turn the character's solo fortunes around and really deliver a big, epic, and game-changing adventure that the character more than deserves.
