Release Date: March 8, 2019 Over the years, the MCU has been populated by some great females heroes, including Black Widow, Peggy Carter, Daisy Johnson, Melinda May, and Jessica Jones, while others, like Agent 13 and Hope van Dyne, have been set up to truly shine in future films. However, just a few months before the Infinity War saga concludes, Carol Danvers will be stepping into the MCU, gifting the massive franchise with its first female-driven film. Her solo story is sandwiched between the two parts of the massive Avengers story, which has raised many questions about whether or not she'll appear earlier than that - she almost appeared in Age of Ultron, for instance - and how her story will play into the larger MCU narrative at a time when the Infinity War is in full swing. Her film is the last step before everything the MCU has been building towards since 2008 comes to a head in the second part of Infinity War, so it's pretty clear that Marvel has some major plans for her. In the comics, shes palled around with the Guardians, led the Avengers, and has repeatedly demonstrated just how powerful she can be, with her flight, strength, and other abilities all wrapped in an intellectual package that perfectly matches brains with brawn. As the contracts of some of the MCU's most tenured vets begin to end, shes the perfect candidate to lead the Avengers in a post-Thanos world headed into Phase 4 and beyond and gift the world with a new cinematic hero to look up to.
