Every MCU Movie - Ranked From Worst To Best

13. The Incredible Hulk

If you had any concerns over whether Louis Leterrier's unfortunately wayward Hulk "sequelboot" counts as an actual MCU movie, the fact that General Ross has now reappeared in the MCU thanks to Civil War should put them to rest. And while the film is largely remembered as the black sheep of the MCU family, it's nowhere near as fatally bad as has been occasionally suggested.

Strengths

Well, it's at least better than Ang Lee's curious intepretation of Hulk with daddy issues, and it does sort of understand the needs for spectacular fight scenes. There's also a very MCU-like attempt to add emotional heft, with Hulk being torn by his human relationships.

And William Hurt's General Ross was great - to the extent that his continued presence in the MCU is very welcome. It's just a shame the Abomination hasn't followed him yet.

Weaknesses

It's unbalanced, worryingly heartless for a supposedly emotional film and Tim Roth is in distractingly destructive full-flow, chew-scenery with reckless abandon and basically making everyone else look terrible. In a better film, that could have been glorious, but here it leaves everything looking unsatisfying by proximity.
