5. Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)
The found family trope is a common one in the MCU, but it's never been handled better than in Guardians of the Galaxy, which starts with a fun little heist and soon evolves into the tale of five outcasts finally given the chance to find themselves.
Visually stunning and coloured by a group of equally compelling characters each given ample time to adapt and grow, the sci-fi adventure flick is at once a comedy and a melodrama, equal parts hilarious and surprisingly touching.
Before Guardians of the Galaxy, the MCU was very much focussed on gritty, earth-only heroes, but afterward it never felt more limitless or promising. Honestly, I could watch Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot and Drax save the galaxy forever.
