Every MCU Movie & TV Show Ranked Worst To Best
1. Black Panther (2018)
On paper, Black Panther isn't much different to Iron Man or Thor, charting the rise to power of one man who's forced to confront a compelling threat before he can truly accept his place in the world.
On the screen, though, Ryan Coogler's masterstroke is so much more than meets the eye, following Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa as he fights to maintain the throne of Wakanda from the ideological differences of its rightful heir, Killmonger (an electric Michael B. Jordan).
This is a drama that competently grapples with Africa's troubled relationship with the wider world, tackling everything from inequality, colonialism, isolationism, family and the moral conundrums these issues enflame even amongst those who seem to be fighting for the same thing.
Black Panther is an exquisite exercise in worldbuilding and character, and though its CGI-assaulted finale is a brutal reminder than all MCU films, even the greats, have their flaws, the emotional power of its central conflict and ambitious themes refuse to be overshadowed. Wakanda Forever, indeed.
