4. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
This may be a controversially high ranking, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is not just the best Guardians movie, but the single most underrated film of the entire franchise.
Like its predecessor, Vol. 2 is an insanely exciting spectacle to behold, bursting with vibrant colour, set pieces and action beats, but it improves on what came before by offering audiences a stronger emotional core and a much more compelling villain, courtesy of an engaging Kurt Russell.
The tight focus on the team's family elements and Chris Pratt's brilliantly conflicted performance anchor the sci-fi sequel throughout its runtime, creating a film which carries with it countless one-liners and character drama amongst Gunn's typical eye for preposterous comedy and world-building.
It may not be overly concerned with the rest of the MCU, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 nonetheless feels invaluable.
