2. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
The most remarkable thing about Avengers: Infinity War is that it actually worked. The thought of making an MCU team-up event featuring damn near every character in the franchise is a daunting one, and such an impossible undertaking that it seemed doomed to fail.
But directors Anthony and Joe Russo pulled it off in spectacular fashion, shifting focus from the heroes at the franchise's centre to Josh Brolin's immovable antagonist Thanos and his quest to use the Infinity Stones to destroy half of all life in the universe.
Tightly structured and allowing the franchise's many heroes to band together both in space and on the ground, Infinity War has an awful lot going on, but makes every twist and turn of the story work magnificently thanks to its unrelenting pace and continuously shocking bolts from the blue.
For its audacious ending alone, Infinity War would be a contender for MCU's best movie, but for now that honour goes to this list's #1 pick...
