As the MCU developed and the threats became bigger and more outlandish, it started expanding its roster to include some of Marvel's most powerful and game-changing heroes.
One such heroine is Captain Marvel, a seemingly indestructible being played brilliantly by recent Oscar-winner Brie Larson but tragically trapped inside a film which is noticeably trying far too hard to integrate itself into the wider MCU mythology.
Whilst watching a de-aged Samuel L. Jackson in action leads to some solid laughs and intriguing backstory, the film's desire to fill in some of the franchise's biggest narrative gaps - mixed with the derivative story and slightly uncanny special effects - make it a fun but ultimately flawed addition to the fold.
