After his business was destroyed due to the actions of the Avengers, Adrian Toomes decided to become a career criminal. Adopting the name Vulture, he spent years studying the technology of Loki's Chitauri army, and created the menacing suit that gave him his new name.

Though he kept out of trouble during his days as a black market figurehead, he eventually came into contact with Spider-Man and had to adopt a more violent and antagonistic approach to his work. With the aid of a powerful Chitauri gun and the improved strength, durability and flight granted to him by the suit, Toomes was able to best his new arch-nemesis more than once.

He was eventually beaten, but it took all Spider-Man had to bring him down.
