Despite being one of the franchise's most disappointing villains, Malekith the Accursed also proved to be one of its most powerful once he got his hands on the Aether.

The leader of the vicious and vengeful Dark Elves, he survived the original war with Asgard and spent thousands of years in hiding, before returning to take back the Aether and send the universe into darkness.

Though without the Aether he was no slouch in the power department, he often relied on Kurse to do his bidding. But once he got his hands on the Reality Stone, he was able to block attacks from Thor's hammer, teleport at will, and could use the Stone to blast his opponents with great blasts of energy.

Brutal and fuelled by anger, Malekith was eventually bested by Thor, but that doesn't take away from just how strong the Dark Elf proved to be.
