An extremely powerful Kree leader both during and after the Kree-Skrull War, Ronan found himself teaming up with Thanos with a plan to destroy Xandar. After finding the Orb, an ancient artifact that held the Power Stone, he decided to betray Thanos and use his newfound power to destroy Xandar himself.

With the Stone and his signature hammer, Ronan was able to defeat all the Guardians of the Galaxy, and was able to toss Drax the Destroyer around like he was nothing. With his hammer, he was seemingly impossible to get close to, and could even hold an Infinity Stone without succumbing to its power.

In fact, the only reason he was defeated was because Star-Lord was able to distract him with a dance off, giving the rest of the team enough time to take the Stone back and destroy him with it.
