Although very different in tone, this Mitchell and Webb collaboration comes very close to the Mark and Jez dynamic from Peep Show, with Mitchell as the straight laced character with an over inflated sense of his own abilities and intelligence and Webb as the happy-go-lucky foster brother, full of unrealistic plans and a less than firm grip on the reality of the consequences of his actions.

The series follows the struggles of a family as they try to make the running of the John Barleycorn pub in Stroud, Gloucestershire profitable following the death of the head of the household.
