Every Mitchell And Webb Film And TV Project Ranked From Worst To Best

23. Doctors and Nurses

Some of the entries on this list will be quite subjective. Doctors and Nurses is not one of these, it’s absolutely horrible. The BBC sitcom took place in a hospital, trotting out the most tired medical puns imaginable and tropes that were at least 20 years out of date at the time.

David Mitchell features prominently as Dr. Toby Stephens, the inexperienced doctor learning the ropes at an Isle of Wight hospital with allegedly hilarious consequences.

The project was largely a vehicle for Ade Edmonson, of Bottom and The Young Ones fame. As the main doctor, Edmonson’s character was the hero, battling against corrupt doctors who are looking to increase demand for their own private medical services at the expense of the NHS. The 2004 series was panned by critics and the general public alike, thankfully there was no real suggestion of a second series after its 6 episode run came to an end.
