Every Muppet Movie Ranked Worst To Best

7. Muppet Treasure Island

The Muppets have had many ventures into parodying TV and Film, but there have also been a few occasions where they have delved into the world of literature, and one of the most notable came from Muppet Treasure Island.

This was an ambitious film that sought to bring the classic Robert Louis Stevenson tale to life in a similar vein to the success they had adapting some of Charles Dickens work, but sadly it pales in comparison to Christmas Carol.

One positive highlight comes from the performance of Tim Curry in the role of Long John Silver. It's played precisely the kind of way you would expect Curry to tackle this iconic role, but surrounded by puppets. He loves every second that he is on screen, and plays to the nasty side of the character with the utmost joy.

However, the films biggest falter comes from the fact that it simply doesn't translate as well as it should. The characters don't fall into the slots they are given all too well, and the entire adventure is surprisingly mundane, despite the swashbuckling pirate fun to be had.

It seems that this classic children's story wasn't the right choice for the loveable group of puppets.
