4. The Great Muppet Caper
As the first Muppet movie sequel, this feature needed to prove that it's predecessor wasn't beginners luck, and thankfully it did so. Overall the title played it safe but proved that the Muppets were more than capable of generating great on-screen memories.
The focus on crime and journalism gives the title a unique edge when compared to the other films, and allows for some darker humour. But ultimately it acts as another simple and straightforward outing for the characters, but a well achieved one at least.
As is to be expected with a Muppet movie, one of the best dynamics and highlights of the film is the love angle between Kermit and Miss Piggy. Their connection is always full of good humour and heart, and that is no exception here as the instant chemistry between the two puppets is tested as Miss Piggy lies about who she is. This leads to some great conflict and a fun resolution.
The film proves that sometimes sticking to the formula can work, even if it strips the final product of a distinct personality.
