Every Muppet Movie Ranked Worst To Best

5. The Muppets Take Manhattan

Seeing the Muppets focus on Broadway and musicals was an entirely appropriate direction for them to go in. Although this film ranks a little lower, it's mostly due to the high competition of the other titles in this franchise, as Muppets Take Manhattan is still a heartfelt and enjoyable movie that does something exciting with the characters.

The competitive and soul-crushing world of Broadway and showbusiness is made clear in this movie, and despite the happier moments, it doesn't sugar-coat the more depressing side of the world they are exploring. The only real drawback is its lack of originality, as the story of a group of aspiring performers attempting to put their show on has been seen plenty of times before - even within the Muppets series.

With that being said, what it lacks in originality, it certainly makes up for in excellent character work and fun songs. The focus on musicals meant that the score for this film needed to be good, and in true Muppet fashion, the musical numbers are one of the biggest highlights.

Again, it only ranks lower as despite being a wonderfully wholesome and fun adventure, it is mostly a standard paint-by-numbers Muppet film.
